About Camp Berkshires
Camp Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA, in Becket, Massachusetts is in the beautiful Berkshires.  This rustic camp has a charming vintage feel. Set on 1,300 forested acres alongside a pristine, spring-fed, private 100-acre lake with two beach waterfronts, it is a little less than three hours from New York City and Boston — the perfect retreat for city dogs who dream of the unleashed life.

Hike through the cool, lush mountains. Discover your dog’s talents at Agility and Flyball. Paint your inner dog at Barks & Crafts. Learn new tricks with your dog and find out what it takes to become a Certified Therapy Dog Team. Canoe together in the lake, meet new friends, hear the latest on dog behavior and nutrition, and howl around the evening campfire.  All in a safe, friendly atmosphere with your dog. 

Camp Unleashed Berkshires offers dogs and their people a weekend retreat organized to be fun, satisfying, relaxing and educational.  Daily activities are planned to keep the dogs active and participatory.  Presentations and workshops teach campers how to take the best care of their dog.  Sports are led by experts to engage the dogs and help campers understand how to maximize their dog's abilities. Participation in activities is optional, and some campers may choose to simply relax by the lake with their dogs.

Camp Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA).

 You may arrive the first day between 2:00 and 3:30 pm.  Our first activity starts at 4:00 pm.  On the last day, we finish at 3:00 pm.






Meals, Lodging & Rates



You may arrive at camp the first day between 1:00 and 2:30 pm. Our first activity starts at 2:45 pm. On the last day, we finish at 3:00 pm.

Experience Camp Becket by flashlight in a spacious woodsy cabin with a nearby modern washhouse, or if electricity and indoor plumbing are your priority, choose a private room in historic Gibson Hall. Rates are the same for both; they vary only by the number of people per cabin or room.  All campers and their dogs bunk together.

All of the cabins and rooms are furnished simply with wooden twin-size bunk beds and cubby holes for your belongings. Extra mattresses are available to double up for more comfort or you may bring your own air mattress. 

Campers bring their own dog food, flashlights, towels, and a sleeping bag or bedding.  Three healthy adult meals (with options for vegetarians and vegans) are served daily, including a full salad bar at both lunch and dinner.
 
Camp Unleashed Berkshire Package Prices are per person. Fee includes all costs of lodging, meals and programs. Discounts are available. In particular, we encourage you to refer your friends and receive a $25 discount for each referral. 

Choose from three types of accommodations.  Single-Occupancy provides one person a private cabin or room. Double-Occupancy provides one cabin for two people with separate beds. Shared Cabin is designed to house three to four people (although alcoves provide some privacy).  

Shared Cabin (3-4 people) $799 per person
Double-Occupancy Cabin $899 per person*
Single-Occupancy Cabin $999

* If two people with only one dog between them are sharing a Double-Occupancy cabin or room, the fee for the second person is only $630.

Note about Off-Site Lodging: If you prefer to stay at a nearby bed & breakfast, inn or motel, check our list of dog-friendly establishments. If you elect this option, the program cost for all meals and activities (without lodging) is $599 per person with one dog.

* If two people with only one dog between them are attending camp, but staying in off-site lodging, the fee for the second person is only $420.

Once your balance is paid in full (approximately 60 days prior to camp start date), you will be sent a Camp Unleashed Berkshires Orientation Packet via email, including forms to return, a list of what to bring, directions, details about program activities and other important particulars.

Payment / Cancellation Policies

A $200 per person non-refundable, non-transferable deposit guarantees your reservation. (If your dog is not accepted you will receive a complete refund.) The full amount of the package you select must be paid 60 days before camp. 

Deposits are nonrefundable and nontransferable unless there is a medical reason for either the person or dog and we have a medical or veterinary doctor's signature to that effect.  Under those circumstances we will either transfer the deposits to another session or return 50% of the total.  The final balance is not due till 60 days prior to the session start date. 

Returned checks are subject to $30 fee.

Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to camp will receive a 50% refund.

Cancellations made less than 30 days prior to camp session are not subject to any refund of paid fees or deposit.
